What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national program that provides NDIS funding for support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. The NDIS takes a lifetime approach to care and support, investing in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life.
Am I eligible to be an NDIS participant?
If you are an Australian citizen under 65 with disability, you meet the National Disability Insurance Scheme requirements, and you live in an area where the scheme has been launched, you can become a participant. Check your eligibility on the NDIS website.
Who can manage my NDIS fund?
Your fund can be managed by your or your family, an National Disability Insurance Association (NDIA) representative or your fund can be managed through your Plan Manager. NDIS will transfer your fund to your Plan Manager. This fund could then be used to pay for the service you receive.
Who runs the NDIS?
The NDIS is operated by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), an independent Australian Government agency. It is also responsible for providing information and linking participants to services and activities.
